Long Hu on Allbet: One Card Each, Highest Card Takes It

Long Hu is the Chinese name for Dragon Tiger, and it is about as stripped-down as a card game gets. The dealer puts out two cards, one for the Dragon and one for the Tiger. The higher card wins. That is the whole contest.

How a round of Long Hu plays out on Allbet

Allbet runs the game with eight standard decks. After the shuffle the cards go into a shoe, and every round the dealer draws one card to the Dragon box and one to the Tiger box.

Cards rank by face value only. K is the highest card and A is the lowest, so there is no ace-high confusion here. Suits don't matter.

Before the cards come out you choose one of three bets:

• Dragon: you win if the Dragon card is higher.
• Tiger: you win if the Tiger card is higher.
• Tie: you win if both cards have the same rank.

Payouts and the tie rule

A winning Dragon or Tiger bet pays even money, 1 to 1. The tie bet pays 1 to 8.

The part new players miss is what a tie does to the other two bets. If you backed Dragon or Tiger and the cards come out equal, you don't lose the full stake: you lose half. So a 10-unit Dragon bet on a tied hand leaves you 5 units down, not 10.

That half-loss rule is how the house takes its edge on the main bets. The tie bet carries its own edge through the gap between its real chance and the 1 to 8 price. Neither bet can be beaten over time.
